Turning Tables: Mocha Uson Urges Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV To step down if he loses Libel Case

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV recently proposed to sue Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson and two others for libel. Mocha accepted his proposal with open arms, but with a twist. She turned the tables by challenging Trillanes to resign if ever he’d lose the libel case; however, if the senator wins, she herself will step down from her position.

On the 12th of September this year, the avid supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte uploaded a video which is claimed to be her response to Trillanes. In the video, she daringly announced:

“Ituloy mo ang kaso, hinahamon kita, at kung mananalo ka, magre-resign ako. Ngunit kung matalo ka, ikaw ang mag-resign.”

But, that’s not all. She leveled the challenge up by saying that the next moves of the senator will reveal whether he is a coward or not. If he won’t pursue his proposal regarding suing Mocha and two others of libel, it’ll only prove that he does not have the guts to do so.

Mocha also demanded that Trillanes do some research about the words “alleged” and “allegedly.” These are the words that she used when she spilled a few details about the senator’s foreign bank accounts.

Upon the leakage of his alleged offshore accounts, the senator was triggered to file a libel case against Mocha, Erwin Tulfo, and Ben Tesiorna who are said to be behind the Davao Breaking News. The post stated that Sen. Trillanes had bank accounts with the Nova Scotia Bank and the Hongkong Shanghai Bank.

The senator, then, gave out 12 signed copies of bank secrecy waivers to the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and the Office of the Ombudsman. These give them a consent to inspect if the senator has suspicious bank activities.

On the other hand, the senator also challenged the President of the Philippines to sign bank waivers for the latter’s bank accounts to be investigated as well.
