We cannot forget about the secret romance of actress and beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez with the blockbuster king John Lloyd Cruz way back in 2009. Their relationship became the subject of controversy until it finally ended in 2010. JLC allegedly was a drunkard and a womanizer.
The two have met in the set of the previous primetime show “I Love Betty La Fea” but they had to keep their relationship private for the sake of their career.
In a showbiz talk show back in 2011, Ruffa revealed why their romance ended bitterly. She elaborated the reasons as she said:
“Alam niyo, yung pagiging babaero niya, second na lang yun eh. Pero let’s first go to the problem na sinabi niya sa akin. ‘Hindi mo maggugustuhan pag nakilala mo na ako.’ And I said, ‘Ano yun?’ Then sinabi nga niya sa akin na, ‘I drink a lot. Hapon pa lang minsan umiinom na ako.”
“And of course, coming from a relationship so volatile, so abusive, ang sagot ko sa kanya, ‘You can drink all you want ‘til you turn blue. I don’t care.’ Pero naging problema yun, kasi there were times na we would go out, bigla na lang siya nakakatulog. Binubuhat siya palabras ng club. Siyempre nahihiya naman ako,” the beauty queen explained.
Ruffa also revealed how the Kapamilya star wanted to get back with her after they broke up but he’s afraid that it would ruin his career. She then told him to be man enough first the next time he would try to reach out to her again.
The beauty queen also confessed that the rumors that John Lloyd dated co-actress Shaina Magdayao while he was still with her was true in another interview. She stated:
“When I found out that they are officially a couple already… inamin naman sa akin ni JL yun. And we tried naman our best to say goodbye finally. Kasi, di ba, normally when you say goodbye, goodbye na talaga? [In] some cases, that’s really true. But sometimes for some people when you say goodbye, later hello ulit.”
