People may remember Slater Young as the Pinoy Big Brother 2012 Big Winner. However, it is decidedly so that he is not meant for show business. You cannot see him nowadays not because he is not given projects by ABS-CBN but because he had pursued his calling to be an engineer entrepreneur back in his hometown.
In 2015, Slater told The Philippine Star that he is not much into acting. As a matter of fact, to him, it is only a sideline. He said:
“For now, hindi muna. When I went back to Cebu, I thought I’d be a lot less stressed. But it turned out that I had more things to do there. Showbiz, for now, is a sideline.”
The Hot-Shot Engineer ng Cebu, as what he’s called inside the Big Brother House, was apparently still getting lots of offers from ABS-CBN as well as minor roles in teleseryes and movies, but he had to turn them down respectfully. He narrated:
“I still got offers. It was hard to say no. It was hard to say no to people who really took care of you…
But sometimes, you have to really decide. I have to choose a path.”
“When I decided to go into entrepreneurship – which I feel is really my calling ever since I was a kid because my family, for one, is very entrepreneurial,” Slater added.
The former actor is a civil engineer who established Liteblock, a company that offers environmental-friendly innovations designed for homes. Like his family, he ventured into real estate and construction.
