No one expected the death of Rico Yan and people had hard time getting over it especially his onscreen partner and former girlfriend, Claudine Barretto. If you intently examine her Instagram posts, you will realize that a lot of her posts are dedicated to her past lover. But, did you know that Judy Ann Santos and Rico were supposed to have a project together had the latter not died.
Phillippine Entertainment Portal reported that Juday was assigned to appear along with Rico in the sequel of the 1999 film, “Isusumbong Kita Sa Tatay Ko.” Unfortunately, Rico passed away on March 2000 which made all plans for the sequel disappear like smoke. It was planned to be released on early 2000s.
Judy Ann Santos, the actress-slash-host, revealed in a recent interview that the sequel of the film was supposedly their comeback as love team. It was the idea of Fernando Poe Jr. – co-star of the actress whom she endearingly call “Tatay Ron” – to have Rico as her partner in the sequel.
“Si Tatay Ron actually yung nakaisip na dapat si Rico yung maging partner [ko]. And then Rico passed and then FPJ passed, ako na lang yung natira.”
The actress sadly joked, “So wala nang magsusumbong, wala nang mapagsusumbungan so baka i-remake na lang siya.”
