Find out the reason why SM supermalls doesn't have Mercury Drug Store Read here

Some people might have already heard about this; however, it is still inevitable to unintendedly seek for a Mercury Drugstore after shopping in our favorite SM Supermalls. Henry Sy Sr., who established the SM Stores in the Philippines is a Chinese-Filipino businessman who is known to be the no. 1 billionaire here in the country.

However, like all the other businessmen, he, too, started from a small business. He began as a youth with high ambitions in life. He tried countless times to have a booming business yet they all failed. Until one day, the young Henry came across a brilliant idea: to start a little shoe store in their area.

He really had troubles in getting customers. But, he saw that Mercury Drugstore had a lot of customers going in and out of it. Seeing that as a great opportunity, Henry appealed to the owner and asked if he can rent and have his small shoe business stand right in front of the store. Sadly, the alleged owner frankly declined his request.

Due to the said incident, Henry strived harder and promised himself that he’d no longer allow himself be embarrassed and to never have affiliations with Mercury Drugstore not ever in his life.

His hard work finally paid off in the year 1958, wherein he finally set up his desired shoe store in Quiapo, Manila, which was further established in November 1972 to be the first ever SM Mall in the Philippines.

The business tycoon already owns a couple of branches of the SM Supermalls all over the Philippines. Aside from that, he also owns six renowned malls in China and one in Guam. Who would expect that this man was once an aspiring citizen like any of us? Just work harder and we might be like Henry Sy Sr.! Also keep in mind that we should set our feet to the ground. Humble people are always blessed.
