The 21st day of September 2017 was declared as the National Day of Protest in the Philippines in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of Martial Law. Even though there were several protests conducted by both pro and anti-Duterte groups that day, it surely ended peacefully and no one went home injured.
Some rallyists marched as they chant their complaints against the jurisdiction while the others spent their time, effort, and money in creating effigies of President Duterte which they only made to burn in the middle of the street.
The whole day ended with tranquility, however, there was one incident on the side of the anti-Duterte group that really went viral on social media.
Agot Isidro, a critic of the current president’s administration, allegedly lost her phone while she was participating in the protests along with the anti-Duterte groups. On her personal Twitter account, she posted:
“Lost my phone at the rally. Sana may napakain man lang ang kumuha.”
The veteran actress was seen holding her phone on stage while she was singing the Filipino version of Les Miserables’ song Do You Hear The People Sing along with some other co-stars. Her post garnered lots of reactions. Most of her supporters and friends expressed their sympathy and encouragement.
Yet, as we all know, we live in a democratic country and the social media is not an exemption to that. One netizen emphasized that she was surrounded by various thieves and criminals who are the number one enemy of the president. The Twitter users said:
“Sumama ka sa rally ng mga kapwa mo demonyo at kawatan, ano ini-expect mo?”
“That only proves na either mga drug addict, kawatan, may nasagasaang monkey business, druglord
in short mga criminal ang mga anti-duterte.”
One even compared the situation in the side of the anti-Duterte to the incident in the side of the pro-Duterte. The netizen shared:
“Sa pro Duterte na rally may nawalan ng iPhone 6 plus. Sinauli kaagad nung nakahanap.”
We aren’t sure if Agot really lost her phone or just simply misplaced it. Nevertheless, it clearly showed the traits of both parties.
